pH 5.5 protects your delicate acid mantle.

What is the acid mantle?
  • Our skins acid mantle is a very fine, slightly acidic film on the surface of the skin that acts as a barrier to bacteria, viruses and other potential contaminants that might penetrate the skin and cause infection. It is secreted by sebaceous glands. The pH of the skin is between 4.5 and 6.2, so it is acidic. This is one of the reasons we could be careful not to continuously wash or exfoliate as it can take day's for the acid mantle to repair itself. Spots and skin eruptions may be cleared just by changing our cleansers.
What is pH?
  • pH stands for the power of hydrogen and is a figure expressing the acidity or alkalinity of a solution that contains water. The scale runs from 1- 14 of which 7 is neutral, lower values are more acidic and higher values more alkaline. The pH of the skin is between 4.5 and 6.2 depending on the area, the facial skin is approximately 5.5 and will not thrive with a pH that's too low or to high.

Vitamin C Facial Gel Cleanser April 28, 2015

I love this cleanser, I had the one that is free from essential oils as my skin is quite oily but sensitive. I use it once a day in the evening. I find it very easy to use and it lathers up well. Just rinse off and  it leaves my skin feeling really clean and soft.
